Hypnotherapy to stop nail biting
STOP BITING YOUR NAILS
Nail biting, or onychophagy, is the habit of biting one’s nails. This practice affects many people, often starting in childhood or adolescence. It can be linked to stress, anxiety, boredom or even compulsive behavior. It can lead to a variety of problems, such as infections, pain and nail deformities. Hypnosis can help put a stop to this behavior.

It is estimated that between 15% and 30% of people bite their nails.
I admit I was a bit skeptical, but I had nothing to lose. My job no longer allowed me to have such ugly nails when I met clients. After the first session, the urge to bite my nails disappeared. I had a second session a month later, and today, after 3 months, my nails are beautiful and for the first time in my life I can do real manicures.
During the hypnosis session, Evylou put me in a state of deep relaxation during which I could visualize myself biting my nails. Not a pretty sight! Strangely enough, it made me stop overnight!
After my first hypnosis session, I replaced my desire to fiddle with my nails and small skins with the need to apply nail polish. Not very pretty at first, but what a beautiful result after 2 weeks!

A habit that begins in childhood
Nail biting is a compulsive and addictive act
Nail biting often begins in childhood. It’s a behavior often associated with stress or anxiety, but the reality can be much more complex.
Some suggest that for some people nail biting helps to regulate emotions. For example, when bored or feeling dissatisfied, nail biting offers a distraction or a form of satisfaction. On the other hand, when you’re excited, nervous or impatient, nail biting can be an escape from your emotions.
Is hypnosis effective in stopping nail biting?
Hypnosis is an alternative method for treating various compulsive behaviors, including onychophagia. Its effectiveness can vary from person to person, but numerous studies and testimonials suggest that it can be beneficial for those seeking to stop nail biting.
During a hypnosis session, I guide the client into deep relaxation, which facilitates exploration of the underlying thoughts and emotions related to the nail-biting habit. This approach can help identify emotional triggers, such as stress or anxiety, that lead to this behavior.
The success rate varies from person to person, and also depends on individual motivation. Studies suggest that hypnosis can be effective for 70-90% of people. Some people find that hypnosis enables them to reach a level of motivation and determination they were unable to achieve by other means.

Hypnosis to stop nail biting can be effective for 70-90% of those who take part.
2 to 3 hypnosis sessions are usually enough to help you stop biting your nails.
